Guild Blog Program (GBP) blogs are full, standalone WordPress sites with both a blog and as many static pages as the Blog Owner requires. These sites are known as blogs to distinguish them the Member Website Project (MWP) sites. The Blog Owner is the Guild Member who requested the blog or who is the current administrator of the blog.

The Guild Blog Program has three different type of Blogs:

Members’ Family History WordPress Blogs – All Guild Members will be able to request a WordPress blog for personal family history blogging and research. They will be able to use it to write blog articles to discuss techniques and technologies or even communicate with family on your personal family history research. Members could use the blog to document research on local surname studies for surnames not yet registered. This is an all Member benefit. You do not need to have registered a surname to request one of these blogs.

Guild Registered Study WordPress Blogs – All Study Registrants will be allowed to request a WordPress blog for their study. This is primarily going to be used by Registrants who have am MWP Type 1 (HTML) or Type 3 (TNG) site as those websites do not have a WordPress option. (Please note: MWP Type 1 users also have an option to convert their MWP site to Type 2 and add a WordPress Blog to their site.) Registrants with a Type 2 MWP site will not normally require a separate WordPress blog but may add one to their study.

Guild Post Holder WordPress Blogs – All Guild Post Holders may request a WordPress blog for communicating to the public information about their area of Guild responsibility. In general, the primary beneficiaries of these blogs will be Regional Representatives so that they can provide information to the Guild Members in their region without the Members needing to access Facebook.
